In the heart of Miami’s vibrant art district, the Runway of Dreams Foundation, in collaboration with Sephora, hosted an unprecedented event, “It’s Time to Adapt”, at the eclectic MAPS Backlot Studio. This inaugural campaign highlighted disability inclusion, bringing together leading brands and inspiring talents to showcase the versatility of Adaptive and Universally designed clothing, accessories, and footwear.

At the forefront of the movement were influential corporate partners including Zappos, Kohl’s, Target, JCPenney, adidas, and Tommy Hilfiger, all committed to championing adaptive fashion and reframing societal perceptions of disability.

The spotlight was shared by an exceptional ensemble of individuals with disabilities who have triumphed over adversities. Yarelbys Tua, a content creator, Alvaro Alcocer, a tenacious musician, Daniel Steele, a professional golfer with Autism, Steffi G., a beauty influencer, and Emily Rowley, a resourceful TikTok sensation born without arms.

Behind the scenes, the event was orchestrated by the Foundation’s Founder, Mindy Scheier. Scheier emphasized, “People with Disabilities are the largest minority on the planet. Through the Foundation’s ‘Campaign for Inclusion’, we are reframing perceptions of disability by showing the importance of disability representation with the brands committed to true inclusion.” Scheier’s sentiments reverberated powerfully throughout the event, making it clear that this was more than just a fashion showcase—it was a revolution.

The event, sponsored by Sephora, and produced by Starr Media—known for its work with Tommy Hilfiger, Louis Vuitton, and Nike—was an unforgettable affair. Held in the city’s trendiest locale, MAPS Backlot Studio, the ambiance buzzed with innovation and inclusion. From the great music that vibrated through the air, the tantalizing cuisine, refreshing drinks, and delightful churros that catered to everyone’s tastes, to the who’s who of Miami’s social scene, the event provided a robust sensory experience.

This campaign successfully transcended the boundaries of fashion, inclusivity, and representation, and it couldn’t have been possible without the collaborative efforts of 2023’s Corporate Partners, all of whom share the Foundation’s vision for a more inclusive world. As Scheier passionately stated, this campaign has taken the Foundation’s impact “from the runway to the world of content-driven media campaigns,” elevating disability representation in fashion and beauty to a new level.

It’s clear that “It’s Time to Adapt” isn’t just a campaign title—it’s a call to action. A challenge to the fashion industry and beyond to recognize the incredible diversity and potential within the largest minority on the planet. A reminder that we all have a role to play in making true inclusion not just a vision, but a reality.
