In high school, Alex Mendel would often make snarky comments, perfectly timed jokes, and goofy faces that had his classmates stifling their laughs under their breath. Despite his antics, he’d turn in his homework on time, and somehow—against all expectations—nail the tests. He managed to be both the whirlwind that spun through the classroom and the quiet storm that got the work done. Some days, Mendel couldn’t sit still, couldn’t stop laughing, but he was always thinking, always moving forward.
“I always wanted to help people,” said Mendel. “I always wanted to bring joy into people’s lives. I was a class clown, but I said I’m going to be something one day. I thought to myself, what’s the best course of action for someone who is entrepreneurial but doesn’t want to settle for a glass ceiling, and that’s when I got into real estate.”
Originally from Philadelphia, Alex Mendel relocated to Florida in 2004, attending Spanish River High School before going on to Florida Atlantic University. In 2010, he made the move to New York City, where he worked as a financial recruiter on Wall Street.
“I tried my hand out in New York for about six months,” said Mendel. “I did well for the six months that I was there, but decided that Florida was where I was meant to be.”
However, in 2011, he moved back to South Florida, and no longer were the slow starts to an uneventful day, but rather the beginning of a relentless pursuit toward a new career. He’d imagine the future: weekends spent at open houses, keys jangling from his belt loop, his confidence growing with each sale.
“I worked for it, and two years later, I earned my real estate license,” said Mendel.
Ever since getting his real estate license, he has successfully been selling residential real estate in South Florida for over ten years.

“I always had a passion for wanting to help people who help themselves,” said Mendel. “It’s very rewarding to be a part of and add to the greater good and something bigger than me.”
Wanting to help others led him in the heart of Boca Raton’s sun-kissed avenues, as a confident real estate agent who strides into his day like a man on a mission. He is more than just a salesman. To him, selling homes is an art form. An art form that’s about creating a future for others.
“Even in my office, I’m constantly volunteering my time to help newer and older agents,” said Mendel. “All in different techniques like digital marketing, AI, and even making videos because I wish I would have had someone like me to do these things when I was first starting out.”
Even with some homebuyers using AI (Artificial Intelligence) to help with their homebuying process, Mendel believes the personal and human touch is something that can never be replaced.
“Real estate is always changing,” said Mendel. “But I’ve changed with it, and that’s why I do videos.”
Originally doing some bagel vlogs where he’d bite into the crunch of sesame, the fluff of the bagels, and the velvety creaminess of the cheese, he decided to do more real estate-focused videos.
“I used to do bagel reviews of different bagel shops in Delray and Boca,” said Mendel. “I was at a bagel shop in Delray, and started recording, but I noticed I had a booger in my mustache. I walked into that bagel shop [and] recorded a video, and most people would redo the intro and the video. But I kept it in because I find it funny. It’s about being yourself, and that goes the same for real estate.”
Now, he creates and edits authentic videos based on real estate providing homebuying tips, news, trends, and more on Instagram and YouTube. For instance, through his videos, viewers and homebuyers can discover the current state of prices, buyer competition, and new listings.
“We have 43,000 agents just in the Palm Beach County board,” said Mendel. “I wanted to stand out, so, I started doing the videos in 2017. In early 2017, I saw that videos were going to be the future, and I wasn’t seeing that many real estate videos in Boca at the time.”
Mendel presses record, and the space comes alive with his voice, rich and resonant, guiding his audience through the intricacies of home buying. His video will often conclude with a thoughtful nod, his eyes sparkling with ambition and care.
“I have a fun time doing them,” said Mendel. “Anybody can post a text and hope people read and understand it. But within 60 to 90-second videos, especially my more educational videos, I’m able to convey that I’m the professional on this. It’s also personal, mixed with business, because people work with who they know and trust. I love educating people, and the videos open a lot of conversation because I speak to hundreds of strangers a day, but through my videos, they get to know me.”
Beyond the homebuying tips he shares on screen, he also shares his personal life such as his wife Michelle, and their daughter Ava.
Meeting on JSwipe, a Jewish dating site, Alex was going to delete the app because he wasn’t finding any matches. However, the day he was about to leave the app, he matched with Michelle, and a dinner date turned into a marriage.
“The most important thing to me is my family,” said Mendel. “My two hobbies are real estate and my family. It’s not about selling the homes, it’s about the ones who feel appreciated and chose me to represent them. They also feel like family and friends.
Mendel still believes that South Florida is getting a net positive migration and his dedication to excellence and tailored approach guarantees a seamless and rewarding real estate experience for both home sellers and buyers.
“I was a silly guy in high school,” said Mendel. “But like many people, I found my focus. In real estate, you have to learn contracts, marketing, negotiating, learn data, and there’s more to just passing your real estate exam and getting your license to be successful. Sometimes you’ll work 14-hour days, and you miss putting your daughter to sleep. But it’s a dedication, and I’m glad I found my focus and help families find their focus.”
