South Florida’s first Sunday of November brings two major outdoor events under a weather warning. The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is scheduled to run through 5 p.m., and the Miami Dolphins are set to host the New England Patriots at Hard Rock Stadium at 4:25 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the tri-county area, with coastal flood and surf advisories also in effect in parts of the region.

The outlook makes today a good time to check official updates before heading out, and to start looking at indoor plans for the week. From the coast to the Everglades, water is part of South Florida’s landscape; today’s alerts are also a reminder to take local travel conditions seriously.

FLIBS closes Sunday, rain or shine

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show’s final day is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. The organizer says the show goes on rain or shine, but that does not guarantee dry or easy travel between its waterfront venues.

For visitors, the show recommends using the Broward County Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower Blvd., as the transportation hub. From there, attendees can access complimentary shuttles and golf carts to show locations; routes and services may change, so check the official FLIBS visitor information before leaving. The show also provides maps and route details.

Final attendance figures have not yet been released. For more on the show’s opening amid king-tide flooding, see our Saturday report on FLIBS and the region’s high water.

Dolphins–Patriots game is scheduled for 4:25 p.m.

The Dolphins’ official game-day schedule lists a 4:25 p.m. kickoff against New England at Hard Rock Stadium. The parking gates and Dolphins Fan Zone are scheduled to open at noon, stadium gates at 2:30 p.m., and the pregame show at 4:05 p.m.

The game is outdoors, and there is no special weather-related change announced in the sources reviewed for this article. With the Flood Watch in effect, fans should check team and stadium channels for any operational updates before departure. The Dolphins advise fans to use digital tickets and note that Hard Rock Stadium is cashless and has a clear-bag policy; review the team’s stadium information before arriving.

What the alerts mean for plans

The National Weather Service’s Flood Watch covers Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties from 10 a.m. Sunday through 3 p.m. Monday. Forecasters warn that heavy rain could cause urban and street flooding. Scattered east-coast locations could see 3–5 inches through Monday, with isolated totals as high as 5–7 inches; the location of the heaviest rain remains uncertain.

A separate Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect along the coast through 7 p.m. Monday. The NWS also reports a High Surf Advisory, with 5–8-foot breaking waves in coastal Broward and Palm Beach through Sunday evening. That surf forecast does not apply uniformly across Miami-Dade.

The NWS advises allowing extra travel time, avoiding flooded roads and never driving around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Conditions can change, so check the latest alerts and venue guidance before setting out.

A Thanksgiving volunteer opportunity

Looking farther ahead, Feeding South Florida is organizing a Thanksgiving Community Feast on Nov. 26 at Hard Rock Stadium. The event is planned for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is expected to serve about 500 guests, according to the South Florida Times.

The nonprofit’s volunteer registration listing describes shifts for food preparation, setup and logistics, food service, guest services, family activities, transportation and cleanup. Some shifts start as early as 3 a.m., and age requirements vary by role.

A target of approximately 800 volunteers could not be confirmed in the public materials reviewed. The organization’s listing directs individuals to sign up through its volunteer portal and provides volunteers@feedingsouthflorida.org and 954-518-1818 for Volunteer Services. Check the listing for current openings and group-registration instructions before making plans.

Today’s waterfront and football events are still on the calendar, but the weather deserves equal attention. Check alerts, verify venue updates and plan around local conditions. For more South Florida reporting, from the coast to the Everglades, stay with South Florida Digest.
