The Miami Dolphins and Action Roofing have once again come together to make a meaningful impact in the South Florida community. On January 23, the organizations surprised Homestead resident and Army veteran Alex Silva Jr. with the gift of a brand new roof, valued at $35,000, addressing urgent health and safety concerns at his family’s home.
This marks the second consecutive year that Action Roofing, an Official Roofing Partner of the Miami Dolphins and a member of the Peak Roofing Partners family of companies, has partnered with the team to provide a free roof to a local resident in need.
Miami Dolphins alumni Troy Drayton and members of the Dolphins cheerleading squad joined staff from both organizations to deliver the news in person, creating an emotional and memorable moment for Silva and his family.
A Life-Changing Gift for a Veteran Facing Serious Health Challenges
Silva, a six-year Army veteran, lives with his wife and children and suffers from Common Variable Immunodeficiency, a condition that requires biweekly in-home plasma treatments. Ongoing roof leaks at the family’s residence had created unsafe living conditions, worsening his medical challenges and putting his health at further risk.
Nominated through the Wounded Warrior Project, a Miami Dolphins Football UNITES™ partner, Silva was allowed to choose the color of his new roof before work began, adding a personal touch to the project.
