This summer, the pulse of Washington, D.C. will echo through the streets of South Florida as the Miami Takeover presents The Art of Go-Go Culture Fest—a vibrant celebration of sound, soul, and history. On Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 5 to 10 p.m., the iconic Miami Beach Bandshell will come alive with the unmistakable rhythm of Go-Go music, honoring five decades of the genre’s infectious beats and cultural impact. More than just a concert, this immersive outdoor experience blends live music, art, and movement to spotlight the percussive, party-fueled essence of Go-Go—a genre born from the heart of D.C. and still shaking dance floors across America.

Headlining the event are iconic Go-Go pioneers The Junkyard Band, best known for their hit songs “Sardines” and “The Word.” Also performing are The Black Passion Band, known for blending Go-Go with jazz, hip-hop, and R&B, and Top5 Band, a celebrated group from Prince George’s County, Maryland, now marking a decade of musical innovation.

The cultural celebration will also feature immersive art installations and live visuals. Miami-raised multimedia artist Marcus Blake will be joined by DMV-based visual creator Demont Pinder and Miami artist Rod Royal, adding a visual narrative to the musical performances. In addition, one local artist will paint live during the event, enhancing the sensory experience.

A standout moment of the evening will be a special preview of the Expo Metro Barcelona Art Exhibition—set to debut in Spain this June—offering festivalgoers a rare first glimpse of the animated art mapping installation Listening to Music. This dynamic, 36-piece visual experience fuses five decades of Go-Go’s pulsating legacy with Spanish artistic flair, honoring the genre’s D.C. origins while weaving in new global influences.

Rain or shine, the celebration unfolds at the legendary Miami Beach Bandshell—a 2,000-capacity cultural landmark that has welcomed world-renowned talent and continues to be a vibrant hub for Miami Beach’s creative community. Operated by the Rhythm Foundation, the venue stands as a beacon for artistic expression and local connection.

Throughout the night, guests can savor delicious bites and refreshing drinks from on-site vendors while soaking in the sounds and sights of this unforgettable celebration. Tickets are available à la carte or as part of the all-access Miami Takeover Weekend Party Pass, making it easy to dive into the full experience.
