“Trapped in a Can” by Vita Kari is an experimental performance taking place on December 8th and 9th from 4 pm to 7 pm at the intersection of Washington and 19th Street in Miami. Please note that the location may be subject to change.

During this performance, Kari will be physically confined within a large can, while their collaborators distribute more than 2500 water cans designed by the artist. Drawing inspiration from Pippiloti Rist, Kari’s face is pressed against the “glass” of each can, transforming them into an extension of their body. Spectators are encouraged to pour water on the artist and discard the cans into a communal pile, symbolizing themes of consumption, accessibility, and empathy.

In collaboration with Victoria Daniel, Kari has partnered with Right Water and Drop4Drop to raise awareness and funds for improving water accessibility.
